Nanotechnology

January 15, 2002

If you're into nanotechnology, you might want to read a science fiction book called The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. It'll spin your head around.

And while we're on the topic of nanotech, if anyone knows a company that is doing a lot of research in this field, please let me know. I'd like to invest.

Upcoming Dearborn School Millage Election
Tuesday, March 26

January 15, 2002

For the record, I think those of us that are citizens of Dearborn should support the upcoming millage election. I'm going to support it. And yes, I know I have a vested interest in it because I'm a teacher in the Dearborn Public Schools, but I think it's a well thought out proposal and suggest that you support it too.

Surprise, Surprise

January 15, 2002

The grand dame of the Dearborn School Board, Sharon Dulmage, has let it be known that she will not "publicly" oppose the $150 million millage, even though she is not happy with it and thinks it will fail. Surprise, Surprise! I too think it is doomed to failure. But I admire Sharon for not publicly opposing the millage.

Hand Me the Dunce Cap!

January 15, 2002

With regards to standing in the corner, I think I'll go stand in the corner. Particularly for giving Community College Union Boss John McDonald credit for writing a very mudslinging political flyer directed against Abed Hammoud, during the last school board election. [Click here for the original story]

It seems I should have smacked Dearborn School Board members Joe Guido and Sharon Dulmage for writing the scurrilous flyer. However, I still think that Pam Wandless, Jerry Stockwell and James Schoolmaster should be ashamed of themselves for allowing it to be published on their behalf.

In fact, Joe Guido and Sharon Dulmage, you come here and stand in the corner with me. Shame on "US."

And while I'm at it, I do think the romance between John McDonald and Dearborn Press & Guide Publisher Denise Sharp is blooming. However, Ms.Sharp has assured me that she can be objective when it comes to writing stories for her newspaper. And I accept that, "but I'll be watching." I still think they make a neat couple.

ONLY ONE CATCH- YOU MUST BE A CITY WORKER.

Hey, Mr. Mayor, where's the discount for the citizen taxpayers that are going to pay and pay and pay and pay for the grand edifice addition to our city?

Lucky East Dearborn

If the apportionment bill goes through, Democratic Representative John Conyers will represent them. Seems that under the democratic sponsored bill, minority seats must be protected at all costs. Ironic, isn't it?

With a Little Help From My Friends

January 22, 2002

Susan Moore, Deabornite, writer, and all around neat person, has offered to help me cover "some of the fun and games" that go on in our town.

As I do not suffer meetings well, she has volunteered to report and cover them for me. Welcome, Susan. God knows I need your help.

It's A Small World

January 22, 2002

Did you know that the excellent Director of Public Information for the city of Dearborn, Mary Laundroche, who by the way just received a 28% raise from Mayor Guido, at one time was better known as Mary Geddes of the - do you really want to know ??? - Dearborn Press & Guide. Could there be such a thing as an "old gals network" working here? And of course, there is no such thing as the Dearborn Press & Guido.
