I am really torn here Russ.

As you will see, I am no English Professor, but when informal written or oral communication takes place, it only seems to be those anal grammar police who seem to care if sentence structure and spelling is not perfect. Most of the time, it seems like people like this can't come up with a good argument so instead, they attack the grammar or spelling. How much do we like to have someone correct our diction in a casual conversation? How tactless is it to do something like that?

People do not speak in the perfect Queens English, so why all the fuss about perfect writing on an internet forum, chat room or web site? Ever notice that most people who attack grammar or spelling totally disregard the idea or message?

Many highly educated people do not have good grammar, spelling skills or diction but can express a worthwhile thought or idea superbly. Most reasonable people can listen to and debate an idea, or read one, without picking it apart and dismissing the idea because of the spelling or grammatical flaws.

Simply put, it seems like a lot of people who are hung up on the grammar could care less about the message. I suppose I find anal spelling bee champs like that to be as useless as they find me for incorrect spelling or sentence structure.

Just a thought.
