Russ, How about a jet for Senate Democrat leader Harry Reid too. After all it's only taxpayers money.

Hey, Mrs Big Shot Democrat Pelosi, your married to a multimillonaire, have your old man pick-up the cost of your jet.

Since 9-11 any Speaker of the House, including former Republican Speaker Dennis Hastert, has been authorized to use a military jet for domestic travel. The Speaker is 3rd in the line of succession to become President, right behind the VP. The news reports are that Pelosi is going to use a larger jet than Hastert did, because it needs to be able to go non-stop to California (Air Force says non-stop is preferred for safety) without refueling. Hastert's district is in Illinois, so he could use a smaller plane.

I feel it is a small price to pay for an honest person working for us in Washington. Boy, grabbing at straws again I see, Russ. Complaining about maybe $100,000 for some transportation when we are spending (when it is all said and done) a trillion in Iraq. Only you could pull that one off, Russ Gibb.

Mr Gibb, I just got off the phone with a friend of mine in California. After I told her about Mrs Pelosis jet plane She said you were wrong ! Pelosi is not a millionaire, she's a Democrat zillionaire. $$$$$$$

I am retired from Federal government service and when we flew for official business we went throught the government travel agency. Often the flights required stops and changes to obtain the best rate. She is no different than any other government employee, travel like everyone else has to. She better never use it for political or personal travel either.

Dennis Hastert used to call that same plane "a flying tin can." He ALSO requested several times to get the plane upgraded but the money was not appropriated until - you guessed it - 2006. BIG DEAL!

Has anyone figured it out yet that News Media is about TIME, and by featuring Astronauts and their diaper-filled adventures we are missing REAL NEWS that would orthwerwise take that same TIME?

Why do we have only two shows, Hardball and Crosffire, mentioning news about Scooter Libbey's trial?

Why is Lou Dobbs the only one speaking about the Homeland Security Department's (now proven) direct cover-up for two Border Patrol agents that were letting drug traffickers make it through the Mexican Border?

These guys are all RAGING LIBERALS - How is this news of no use to the American Public when both can lead to impeachment of top ranked public officials? Wouldn't CONSERVATIVES who voted for these guys want to know about this, too?

And somehow the 3rd in command in our government, post-9/11, getting armor plating and a better fuel tank on her jet is of interest? Wow! You really must be right Russ - the media IS nuts!

Russ , See where another Democrat multimillionaire " all for the poor" John Edwards has just built a little shack for himself. The main home has five bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths. It's connected by a covered walkway to a little old leanto known as "The Barn," which includes its own living facilities along with a handball court, an indoor pool and an indoor basketball court with a stage at one end. also nearby, Good Daddy John has cleared a space for a private soccer field for his kids.I told ya all John Edwards is a good $$$$$ Democrat Daddy and one hell of a good lawyer.

With a current building value of $4.3 million, the unfinished Edwards estate is already about $1 million more expensive than any other house in the county, according to tax records. It sits on land worth about $1.1 million. Now russ, don't get me wrong, the guy is living the American dream, But it sure does look funny that all the multimillionaire Democrats talk about the poor, but live the life of the rich. Limousine liberals.

The White House defended Pelosi. Let's not make something out of nothing. This is the problem with the quick turnaround of news and blogs etc today. We react rather than respond.
I am no fan of Pelosi's, but do we have to parse everything instantaneously? What about thinking about things for a while, getting the facts and responding only if it is necessary?

Democrat Murtha Plays politics with funding for our military.

Representative John Murtha, a Pennsylvania Democrat and chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee that funds the Defense Department's budget, said he contacted officials at the Pentagon and told them to provide a large plane for Pelosi.

``I said she should have the same consideration Hastert did,'' Murtha said, adding that it isn't wise for the Pentagon to reject her use of a non-stop plane.

``They're making a mistake when they leak it, because she decides on the allocation for the Defense Department,'' he said. He added he didn't think Pelosi would let a rejection drive her decisions on Pentagon funding.

Murtha said he will hold hearings that examine the use of military planes by members of Congress and Bush administration officials for the past two fiscal years. Asked whether the hearings are payback for the decision on Pelosi's request, he smiled and said, ``Would I do something like that?'' You bet he would and will.

I only wish that people would spend as much time worrying about why so many of our young people have died for political reasons that, unfortunately, will, probably, return to the way they were when we finally do pull out.

We waste time talking and debating things that are stupid and mind-dumbing instead of trying to change things that must be changed. Maybe, it is time to ask if all the money that is being spent couldn't be put to much better use in this country.

Have we learned nothing from History? We are caught in a never-ending pattern of going to war, losing our young men and women, and then spending unbelievable amounts of money to rebuild the nations that we were at war with. Japan and Germany are taking over the auto market. If I remember correctly, we were at war with them and helped rebuild their economy. Maybe, instead of spending money in war, it is time to rebuild ours.

Just some thoughts.

Re: John Edwards and "rich" "limousine" Democrats: Who says you can't be rich and want to help the poor? Does having money automatically mean you can't empathize? It means you can't want to equal out the ever-increasing wealth disparity in this country?

It's the wealthy who do nothing to make the lives of others better that we should be disgusted with. Not many homeless people have the resources to make a change in our country. Politicians-- Democrats or Republican-- DO have the resources to make change. Who gives a crap if they're rich and building a $4 million home with the money they earned? Edwards, for anything else you might say about him, is a person who puts his money where his mouth is.

I'm not entirely sure what your nearly incoherent, cliche-ridden screed about Speaker Pelosi is supposed to tell us, except that you see some sort of unspecified hypocrisy among Democrats, as though one elected official represented the entire party.
